My Ability Map — Measure Your Cognitive Abilities

Five core abilities, measured by short challenges. Everything is stored only in your browser — no account, no upload.

What the map measures

The map covers five core abilities: Speed, Attention, Memory, Reasoning and Strategy. Each ability is measured by short challenges — tests, games and classic cognitive experiments. A game score is never treated as the ability itself; it is one observation of it.

Speed

Reaction, processing and timed performance

Attention

Focus, inhibition and visual search

Memory

Working, numerical and sequential span

Strategy

Planning and outsmarting the AI

How scores are calculated

Each challenge converts your raw result (milliseconds, span length, accuracy, win or loss) into a 0–100 performance score using a fixed, documented scale. Your ability score is a weighted average of your recent runs — newer runs count more. It is a self-tracking heuristic: it answers “how have I been doing recently?”, not “how capable am I?”. Scores describe your performance on these tasks, not your worth or potential.

Confidence and freshness

One or two runs give a preliminary estimate. Three or more runs across different days make a score dependable. High confidence requires five runs spread over at least three days and at least three different challenges — variety, not repetition, is what makes a score trustworthy. If an ability hasn't been measured for more than 14 days, it is marked as possibly changed.

Your data stays with you

The map lives entirely in your browser's local storage. There is no account, nothing is uploaded, and you can export or delete all of it at any time from this page.

How to read your scores

  • Compare with yourself first. A score describes your recent performance on these tasks and how it changes — the trend matters more than any single number, and mixing different challenges of the same ability makes it sturdier.
  • Compare with others only where marked. Challenges showing a percentile use Human Benchmark's public distributions; challenges showing a typical range use published research figures. Challenges with neither marker have no population reference yet — for those, only self-comparison applies.
  • What scores cannot tell you: this is not an IQ test or a diagnosis. Ability scores are a self-tracking heuristic — they answer “how have I been doing lately?”, not “how capable am I?”. Strategy scores reflect your results against our AI at the chosen difficulty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have another question? Let us know.

Is my ability map a scientific assessment?

It is a self-tracking tool. The challenges are based on classic cognitive paradigms, but the scores are for orientation and personal comparison over time — they are not a clinical or psychometric evaluation.

Where is my data stored?

Everything stays in your browser's local storage. There is no account and nothing is uploaded to a server. You can export or delete all data at any time on this page.

Why did my score change between runs?

Performance naturally varies with sleep, focus, time of day and practice. Occasional differences are normal — that is why the map shows confidence and recommends multiple runs on different days.

Why is there no overall total score?

The five abilities are measured on different scales with different reliabilities, so combining them into one number would be misleading. The map deliberately shows each ability separately.

How can I improve a weak ability?

Retest with different challenges of the same ability, practice regularly in short sessions, and prioritize sleep. Progress in cognitive performance is gradual — compare yourself with your own past results, not with others.

Does a high score mean I am smarter?

No. The scores describe performance on specific short tasks on your current device. They do not measure intelligence as a whole, and they say nothing about a person's worth or potential.
