Gap Challenge
Find the symbol that completes the Latin square: no symbol repeats in any row or column.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have another question? Let us know.
What rule should I apply?
Every symbol appears exactly once in each row and each column. Look at the highlighted cell's row and column: the symbols already present rule out all but one remaining symbol.
How is my score calculated?
You get one point for each correct answer. Wrong answers are penalized by one third of a point to discourage guessing, matching the formula scoring used in many aptitude tests.
Are the questions the same every time?
No. Every attempt generates a fresh Latin square, so you can practice as many times as you like without memorizing answers.
What happens if the 5-minute timer runs out?
Your test is submitted automatically and your results are calculated from the questions you answered, just like a timed screening test.

Why gap challenges matter
Gap (Latin square) challenges train deductive logic — reasoning from partial information to a certain conclusion.
Deductive Reasoning
Eliminating impossible symbols until only one remains is the core of logical deduction.
Constraint Tracking
Holding row and column constraints in mind simultaneously builds working memory capacity.
Pattern Recognition
Latin squares appear throughout reasoning tests, puzzles, and experimental cognitive tasks.
Careful Checking
Verifying that each symbol appears exactly once per row and column trains accuracy under time pressure.
