Extraverted Thinking
Oriented toward efficiency, structure and objective goals — organizing resources and executing measurable plans.
Understanding the Function Abbreviations
Se, Si, Ne, Ni, Te, Ti, Fe and Fi are standard abbreviations for psychological functions, each made of two parts: a function type and an attitude direction.
- S · Sensing — What concrete information do I take in?
- N · iNtuition — What possibilities or patterns can I see?
- T · Thinking — Is this logical and consistent?
- F · Feeling — Does this fit values, relationships and feelings?
Why is Intuition "N" instead of "I"? Because I is already used for Introversion, Intuition takes the second letter of iNtuition: N.
- e · Extraverted — oriented toward outer objects and environment
- i · Introverted — oriented toward inner experience and structure
Conscious Expression
As a dominant or auxiliary function, Te makes you an effective executor: you break big goals into actionable steps, decide decisively, delegate, and measure progress by objective standards.
Shadow Expression
In the shadow, Te can become an obsession with efficiency, judging everything by results, turning bossy and forceful under stress, ignoring people's feelings, or measuring self-worth through external achievement.
Types That Use This Function
Growth Tip
Weigh "getting it done" together with "how people experience it"; allow yourself and others moments that are not maximally efficient.
vs Ti
Ti cares whether logic is consistent; Te cares whether the goal is achieved. Ti asks "why", Te asks "how". Healthily: use Te to move forward, Ti to make sure the direction is right.
