About This Learning Style Quiz
The VARK Model
VARK is a model of sensory learning preferences developed by Neil Fleming in 1987. It describes four main ways people take in and process information: Visual (V), Auditory (A), Read/Write (R), and Kinaesthetic (K). Most people use a mix of these styles, but often have one or two preferred modes.
The Honey & Mumford Model
Peter Honey and Alan Mumford developed their learning styles model in 1982, based on David Kolb's experiential learning theory. It describes four learning approaches — Activist, Reflector, Theorist, and Pragmatist — each representing a different way people engage with and process new learning.
Learning styles models like VARK and Honey & Mumford are widely used in education and professional development as self-reflection tools. It is important to note that contemporary research does not strongly support the idea that matching teaching to a learner's 'style' improves outcomes. These models are best used as a starting point for thinking about your own learning preferences and developing a wider range of study strategies, rather than as fixed labels that limit how you learn.

The quiz takes about 8–10 minutes to complete. It is split into two short sections: 16 VARK questions and 20 Honey & Mumford statements.
Are there right or wrong answers?
No. This quiz measures your personal learning preferences, not your ability. Just go with your first instinct and choose whatever feels most like you.
Can I select multiple answers in the VARK section?
Yes. In the VARK section, you can select all options that apply to you for each question. In the Honey & Mumford section, you choose one rating per statement.
What does 'Multimodal' mean in my VARK result?
Multimodal means you have strong preferences across multiple VARK styles rather than one dominant style. This is common and means you can adapt to different learning formats.
