Left Brain Right Brain Test

Everyone’s brain has its own working style. Some decisions come from logic and structure, others from intuition and creativity. This test helps you explore which side you rely on more in everyday thinking.

About the Left Brain Right Brain Test

American psychobiologist Dr. Roger Wolcott Sperry (August 20, 1913 – April 17, 1994) confirmed the 'split-brain theory' of cerebral asymmetry through his famous split-brain experiments, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1981. The normal human brain has two hemispheres connected by the corpus callosum, forming a complete unified entity. Under normal circumstances, the brain works as a whole; information from the outside world is transmitted via the corpus callosum, allowing the left and right hemispheres to exchange information instantly (at a rate of 1 billion bits per second). Every human activity is the result of the exchange and synthesis of information between the two hemispheres. The two hemispheres of the brain have functional divisions: the left hemisphere perceives and controls the right side of the body, while the right hemisphere perceives and controls the left side of the body.

Scientific Context

The left-brain right-brain theory, suggesting that individuals are either left-brained (logical) or right-brained (creative), overly simplifies brain functions. Contemporary neuroscience demonstrates that both hemispheres are involved in most cognitive processes. Though certain tasks may be processed more dominantly by one hemisphere, complex behaviors necessitate the integration of both. This understanding is bolstered by studies employing brain imaging technologies, revealing the brain's interconnected and dynamic activity.
