Children Multiple Intelligences Developmental Assessment Scales (CMIDAS)

A 432-item parent-observation tool for 3-5 year olds, covering 9 dimensions (Linguistic, Logical, Spatial, Musical, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Naturalist, Executive Function) across 54 sub-dimensions. Discover your child's strengths and growth areas with personalized game & activity recommendations. For educational self-reflection only, not a diagnostic tool.

About CMIDAS

CMIDAS (Children Multiple Intelligences Developmental Assessment Scales) is Kuakua's child development assessment framework, designed as a parent-observation version for ages 3-5. It estimates your child's current performance across 9 developmental dimensions based on systematic parental observation of daily behaviors.

CMIDAS is not an IQ test or talent identification. It doesn't output diagnoses or fixed labels — instead, based on observation evidence provided by parents, it estimates current performance state, identifies strengths and growth opportunities, and recommends actionable next steps for families.

Question design references developmental psychology norms for ages 3-5 (attention span 5-10 minutes, working memory 2-3 steps, counting to 10, etc.). All questions target ages 3-5 uniformly — no age norms or age adaptation needed.

On completion you'll receive: 9-dimension star profile, radar chart visualization, sub-dimension details, top strengths and growth areas, and personalized game & family activity recommendations.

9 Core Dimensions

CMIDAS focuses on 9 core dimensions (8 multiple intelligences + executive function), each with 6 sub-dimensions — 54 sub-dimensions and 432 questions total:

  • Linguistic — Communication and expression through reading, speech, stories, writing/creation, and language games.
  • Logical — Cognitive abilities in quantity, patterns, classification, causality, problem-solving, and strategic planning.
  • Spatial — Perception and expression of shapes, space, orientation, construction, and image creation.
  • Executive Function — Self-management including attention, working memory, planning, inhibitory control, persistence, and task completion.
  • Musical — Perception, imitation, memory, and creation of rhythm, melody, pitch, and timbre.
  • Bodily-Kinesthetic — Gross motor, fine motor, body coordination, balance control, tool use, and movement imitation/creation.
  • Interpersonal — Social skills including emotion awareness, cooperation, communication, sharing, leadership, and conflict resolution.
  • Intrapersonal — Self-awareness, emotion recognition, independence, goal setting, reflection, and self-drive.
  • Naturalist — Observation, classification, environmental awareness, exploration, and collection of animals, plants, and natural phenomena.

Scoring Rules

CMIDAS scoring works as follows:

  • Sub-dimension score = mean of valid answers (non-NA), 1-5 points.
  • Dimension score = mean of 6 sub-dimension scores under that dimension.
  • Sub-dimensions with NA ratio > 50% are marked "insufficient evidence" and produce no score.
  • A dimension produces no score if fewer than 3 sub-dimensions have sufficient evidence.

Confidence Levels

Confidence reflects answer sufficiency, in three tiers:

  • High: sub-dimension has ≥ 7 valid answers (NA ≤ 1).
  • Medium: sub-dimension has ≥ 5 valid answers (NA ≤ 3).
  • Low: sub-dimension has ≥ 4 valid answers (NA ≤ 4) — still scored but additional observation is recommended.

Method Boundaries and Limitations

This version targets ages 3-5 as a single cohort without 3/4/5 year age-specific norms; results are directional references.

Questions are based on single-administration parent self-report without test-retest reliability validation; combine with long-term observation and multi-context performance for comprehensive judgment.

Recommended games and activities are generic suggestions that don't account for individual differences; consult a child development specialist for specific needs.

References

CMIDAS question bank is based on Kuakua's R&D framework for observing 3-5 year-old child development. Question design references commonly used developmental psychology norms for ages 3-5 (attention span 5-10 minutes, working memory 2-3 steps, counting to 10, complete sentences, recognizable image drawing, 3+ layer blocks, simple causality, etc.).
