Classic real estate trading game

Monopoly is the classic property-trading board game: roll the dice, buy the spaces you land on, build houses and collect rent until your rivals go bankrupt. This version runs right in your browser — no download, no installation and no sign-up — on desktop and mobile alike. Running out of cash does not knock you out: mortgaging a property raises money instantly, and a loan keeps you in the game even though it accrues interest. A game usually lasts between ten and thirty minutes, depending on how many players join and how fast the building goes. The interface is multilingual.

How to Play Monopoly Online

  1. Roll the dice and move your token. If you land on an unowned space, you can buy it.
  2. Land on another player's property and you pay rent. The more houses the owner has built, the higher the bill.
  3. On your own properties you can build and upgrade. Strengthening the spaces your rivals pass most often is the standard move.
  4. Short on cash? Mortgage a property for immediate money, or take out a loan and keep playing. Loans accrue interest, so you pay back more than you borrowed.
  5. The game ends when a player goes bankrupt or runs out of assets.

Monopoly Strategy and Tips

Buy early, don't build too soon

Cash is worth the most in the opening. Pouring money into upgrades leaves you stuck the moment you land on two expensive properties in a row. Aim to own at least one property in each colour group first, and only think about building after that.

Put money where the rent return is highest

Spaces near the end of the board get landed on more often and leave more room for upgrades. From the middle of the game onwards, concentrate your capital there: you earn more rent per unit invested than on the early spaces.

Always keep one round of rent in cash

Hold enough cash to survive the worst case — two expensive spaces in a row — before you expand. Property turns into cash slowly, and mortgaging returns less than face value. Once cash flow jams, it is hard to recover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have another question? Let us know.

Do I need to download or sign up?

Neither. Open the page and play — it works on desktop and phone.

How many players are supported?

Two to six on the same device. Each seat can be a human or an AI opponent, and the AI has three difficulty levels: easy, medium and hard.

What is the difference between mortgaging and taking a loan?

Mortgaging pledges one of your own properties for cash and can be redeemed later; a loan is borrowed money that keeps accruing interest, so you repay more than you received. For short-term cash, mortgaging comes first.

How long does a game take?

Usually ten to thirty minutes, depending on the number of players and how fast properties get upgraded.

Which languages are supported?

The interface supports 30 languages and you can switch at any time from the top-right menu.

Is this the official Monopoly?

No. This page is an independent browser implementation using the same rule set; it is not affiliated with Hasbro, and the trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Does my game save if I close the page?

Yes. The match is saved in your browser, so reopening the page resumes where you left off. Starting a new game replaces the saved match.
