What Is School Readiness?

School readiness is about more than letters and numbers. It includes whether a child can independently manage school life: separating from parents, following classroom routines, taking turns with peers, and putting on a coat or eating lunch alone. These "soft skills" often shape a child's adjustment and confidence in school more than early academics.

This checker is adapted from an internationally used kindergarten readiness checklist, covering 25 practical skills. It answers "can my child cope with school life" — a complementary dimension to developmental milestones ("has the child reached this stage").

The result reflects the current state, not a verdict on your child. The point is not the score itself, but finding the skills worth practicing and weaving that practice into everyday life.

How to Use

  1. Reflect on your child's real behavior over the past 1-2 months and answer honestly. If unsure, check the practice tip for guidance.
  2. After answering all items, view the report: total score plus readiness per domain. Items not yet mastered come with concrete at-home practice ideas.
  3. Fold practice into daily games and routines, then retake the check in 1-3 months to watch your child's progress.
