About This Test
The Chinese Zodiac (生肖) is a classification scheme based on the lunar calendar that assigns an animal and its attributes to each year in a repeating 12-year cycle. Combined with the 10 Heavenly Stems and 12 Earthly Branches, it forms a 60-year sexagenary cycle (一甲子) used in traditional Chinese astrology. Together these make up Chinese astrology — the traditional practice of reading personality and destiny from birth-year animals, elements and pillars — and this page works as a Chinese astrology calculator for any birth date.
How It Works
Enter your birth date. The calculator determines your zodiac animal, Heavenly Stem & Earthly Branch (天干地支), Five Element (五行), and three BaZi pillars (year, month, day) using the traditional Li Chun (立春) year boundary.
About BaZi (Four Pillars)
BaZi (八字), or Four Pillars of Destiny, is a traditional Chinese astrological system that uses the year, month, day, and hour of birth to derive four pairs of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. This calculator provides the first three pillars (year, month, day); the hour pillar requires birth time information.
