About This Test
The Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) was developed by Hans Eysenck and Sybil Eysenck to measure three major dimensions of personality: Extraversion (E), Neuroticism (N), and Psychoticism (P). The revised version (EPQ-R) was published in 1985 and includes a Lie (L) scale that detects socially desirable responding.
How to Play
Choose between the full 100-item EPQ-R (Yes/No format, about 10–15 minutes) and the quick 36-item version (5-point scale, about 5–8 minutes). Answer honestly – there are no right or wrong answers. Your scores on each dimension are shown as a percentage after completion.
The PEN Dimensions
Extraversion reflects sociability and energy seeking; Neuroticism reflects emotional instability and anxiety; Psychoticism reflects tough-mindedness, egocentricity, and nonconformity. Some researchers question the centrality of Psychoticism, but it clearly plays some role in personality, and higher Psychoticism has been linked to greater creativity in several studies.

What is the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire?
The EPQ is a personality questionnaire developed by Hans and Sybil Eysenck. It measures three dimensions: Extraversion (E), Neuroticism (N), and Psychoticism (P). The revised version (EPQ-R) also includes a Lie (L) scale.
What is the difference between the two versions?
The full EPQ-R version has 100 Yes/No questions and measures P, E, N, and L scales (about 10–15 minutes). The quick version has 36 questions on a 5-point scale and measures E, N, and P without the Lie scale (about 5–8 minutes).
How is the test scored?
Each scale is scored by summing endorsed responses on its keyed items. For the full EPQ-R, a higher Lie scale score suggests the other results may be influenced by socially desirable responding. Quick-version results are shown as percentages per dimension.
Is this a diagnostic test?
No. This test is for educational and self-reflection purposes only. It does not diagnose any mental health condition. If you have concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
