Nerdle – Equation Guessing Game

Guess the hidden math equation tile by tile. Colour hints tell you which digits and operators are in the right place — six tries, a new equation every day.

What counts as a valid guess?

Your guess must be a complete, mathematically correct equation that fills the whole row — for example 12+36=48. Guesses that do not compute, lack an equals sign, or break number formatting are rejected and do not cost a try.

What do the tile colours mean?

Green means the digit or operator is in the correct position. Purple means it appears somewhere in the hidden equation but in a different position. Black means it is not in the equation at all.

What about rearranged equations?

Like Nerdle, equivalent rearrangements count: if every character matches the answer and the equation evaluates the same — for example guessing 17+35=52 when the answer is 35+17=52 — the row turns fully green.

How do Daily and practice work?

Each board size gets one seeded equation per day, the same for every player, with your progress saved automatically. The restart button deals the same daily equation again as fresh practice; your streak only counts the first time you settle it each day.

About this Game

Nerdle is Wordle's number-loving cousin. Instead of a hidden word, there is a hidden equation: a complete, mathematically correct sum like 35-17=18. You type a full equation and submit it, and every tile lights up — green means that digit or operator is exactly right, purple means it belongs in the equation but sits in the wrong spot, black means it is not part of the equation at all.

The Classic board has 8 tiles and the Mini board has 6. Each day brings one seeded equation per board size, and your progress is saved so you can come back later — restarting replays the same daily equation as fresh practice. Watch the equals sign: it must always be there, and the equation you submit has to be genuinely valid arithmetic, not just the right letters.

Every guess is a small mental-math workout: you estimate magnitudes, juggle operator precedence, and reason backwards from colour clues. Over time you develop an intuition for how equations are shaped — which makes Nerdle that rare puzzle that is equally a word game and a math drill.
