Mahjong Connect
The classic tile-connecting puzzle with a full mahjong tileset: link identical tiles with a clear path before time runs out.
What Is Mahjong Connect?
Mahjong Connect is a tile-matching puzzle played on a flat, single-layer board. Your goal is to clear the entire board by pairing identical tiles — but unlike Mahjong Solitaire, every pair must be joined by a path with at most two turns that doesn't cross any other tile. It's the classic "connect" rule known from games like Onet and 连连看, played here with a full mahjong tileset across five shaped levels, from an open 6×6 grid to a concentric-gallery fortress. You may also know this game as Onet, Connect the Tiles or simply a link game — the rules are identical, only the tile artwork differs.
How to Play
1. Scan the board for two identical tiles that can be linked. 2. Click the first tile, then its twin — the connecting path appears. 3. A valid path makes at most two turns (three straight segments) and never crosses another tile; paths may run around the outside of the board. 4. Clear every pair before the timer runs out to win the level. 5. Out of moves? Shuffle the remaining tiles; use Hint when you're stuck (costs points).
Mahjong Connect vs. Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire (also known as Mahjong Titans) stacks tiles in layers and lets you remove any pair of unblocked tiles — the challenge is the stacking. Mahjong Connect is a single flat layer, and the challenge is the path rule: two identical tiles only match if a line with at most two bends can travel between them without crossing other tiles. As you remove pairs, new routes open up, so the order you clear in matters just as much as what you spot.
Mahjong Connect vs Onet / Connect the Tiles
Onet, Connect the Tiles and "link game" all describe the same core mechanic as Mahjong Connect: pair identical tiles and connect them with a path of at most two turns. The differences are cosmetic — Onet usually replaces mahjong tiles with fruit, animals or emoji, and some versions keep parts of the board covered until you clear adjacent pairs. If you have played one of them, you can play Mahjong Connect immediately.
A Quiet Workout for Attention and Scanning
Mahjong Connect is a gentle but genuine attention exercise. Every move asks you to hold a search pattern in mind, scan a crowded board for a visual twin, and verify a path around obstacles — three kinds of focus working together. A round only takes a few minutes, so it works well as a short mental reset between tasks. The shaped boards add route planning, and the falling and center modes turn the scan into a moving puzzle.

Tips & Strategy
Clear pairs near the edges first — border tiles have the most connection options, because a path is allowed to leave the board and come back. Clear long straight runs early. A straight connection removes tiles without using up your turns and opens the most new paths. Think in pairs before clicking: check whether both tiles of a pair are still useful elsewhere, then decide the removal order. Work row by row instead of scanning randomly — you will spot twins far faster. Save hints for the last third of the board. Early on almost every tile has a visible partner; late in the game a single hint can rescue a nearly dead board. Shuffle as soon as the board feels locked rather than when the clock is nearly out.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have another question? Let us know.
What is Mahjong Connect?
A tile-matching puzzle on a flat board: remove identical tiles that are connected by a path with at most two turns, before the timer ends.
How is it different from Mahjong Solitaire (Mahjong Titans)?
Solitaire stacks tiles in layers and removes any free pair; Connect is a single flat layer and the challenge is the path rule, not blocking.
Is Mahjong Connect the same as Onet?
They share the same rules — match identical tiles and connect them with a path of at most two turns. The difference is the artwork: Mahjong Connect uses mahjong tiles, while Onet usually uses fruit, animals or emoji, and some Onet boards start partially covered.
What does "up to two turns" mean?
The line between the two tiles may bend twice at most (three straight segments), and it cannot pass through other tiles. Going around the outside edge of the board is allowed.
Is Mahjong Connect free?
Yes, completely free in your browser. No download and no signup.
Is there a Mahjong Connect 2?
"Mahjong Connect 2" is a common label for later boards with denser layouts and more tile faces. The rules are identical — only the difficulty changes. Our version builds the same progression into its five levels, from an open 6×6 grid to dense shaped boards.
Can I play Mahjong Connect unblocked at school or work?
The game runs entirely in your browser with no download, no plugins and no account, so it is available on most networks and devices. If a network blocks gaming sites, we can't help with that — but the page itself is a plain website and loads like any other.
What happens if there are no moves left?
The board is reshuffled automatically so you can keep going — a valid pair always exists after a shuffle.
Any tips for beginners?
Start from the edges, look for tiles with the clearest straight paths, and shuffle early rather than wasting the clock.
What age is Mahjong Connect for?
All ages. The rules take a minute to learn, the tile faces are large and readable, and the first level is a small open board. Older players enjoy the calm pacing, while faster players chase combos and time bonuses.
Does Mahjong Connect help with focus?
It exercises visual scanning, planning and working memory — the skills you use to find, verify and sequence moves. It is a game first, so treat any mental workout as a bonus rather than a promise.
