Frequently Asked Questions

Have another question? Let us know.

What is the difference between Eight Off and FreeCell?

Eight Off has 8 free cells instead of 4, deals four cards into those cells at the start, builds tableau down by same suit instead of alternating colors, and only accepts Kings into empty columns.

How do I win?

Move all 52 cards to the four foundation piles, building each pile from Ace to King of the same suit.

Can I move multiple cards at once?

Yes! You can move any valid descending same-suit sequence, limited by the number of empty free cells and empty tableau columns.

What is the best strategy?

Prioritize moving Aces and Twos to foundations early. Use the 8 free cells strategically to break up long same-suit sequences, and remember that only Kings fill empty columns.

How to Play

Eight Off is a strategic solitaire game similar to FreeCell but with 8 free cells instead of 4, giving you much more room to maneuver. At the deal, 48 cards are dealt face-up into 8 tableau columns (6 each) and the remaining 4 cards are placed into free cells. The goal is to build all four foundations from Ace to King by suit. Rules: • Click a card to select it, then click a destination (tableau column, free cell, or foundation) • Tableau: Build down in the same suit (e.g., 7♠ on 8♠) • Foundations: Build up by suit from Ace to King • Only Kings can be placed into an empty tableau column • Only one card per free cell • Double-click to auto-move to foundation Strategy: Same-suit building is stricter than FreeCell's alternating colors, but the 8 free cells let you move long sequences. Park high cards in the free cells early and dig for Aces.
