How to Play Countryle in 6 Guesses

Countryle is a free daily geography game. You get six guesses to identify one hidden country. Type any country into the search box and submit it — every guess returns a row of six clues that tell you how close you are.

Two clues are all-or-nothing: hemisphere and continent either match or they do not. The other four compare numbers — area, average temperature and population show an up or down arrow, and coordinates give a distance with a compass direction.

The rules fit in one line: guess a country, read the clues, narrow the map, repeat. The daily puzzle is the same for every player, and Endless mode is unlimited practice.

Countryle Game Modes: Daily, Endless, Flag and Territory

Daily

One hidden country per day for everyone. Your streak counts the consecutive days you solved it, and progress is saved so you can come back later.

Endless

Untimed random rounds with no streak at stake — the fastest way to practise the six-clue logic.

Flag

A flag appears and you name the country it belongs to. Five lives, endless rounds, and every correct answer raises your score.

Territory

The flag is swapped for a country's outline: identify the country from its shape alone, with the same six-clue feedback as the Daily puzzle.

Countryle vs Wordle vs Worldle

All three are daily six-attempt puzzles, but they test different skills. Wordle gives you letters and asks for a word. Worldle gives you a silhouette and scores every guess by distance and direction.

Countryle hides the map entirely: you guess any country and read six clues — hemisphere, continent, area, temperature, population and coordinates — to walk toward the answer.

If you like narrowing number ranges, Countryle is the one. If you recognise shapes, play Worldle — also on this site, linked in the recommendations below.

Guess the Country by Flag or Territory

Beyond the daily puzzle, Countryle has two extra challenge modes. In Flag mode you see a country's flag and type the country it belongs to — you have five lives, and every correct guess raises your score.

Territory mode swaps the flag for a country's territory outline, so you guess from the shape alone. Both modes are endless: play as many rounds as you like and pick up the flags and shapes you would never otherwise meet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have another question? Let us know.

How do I play Countryle?

Guess a country and you'll see color-coded feedback: green means the clue matches the target country, yellow means you're close, red means far off.

What does the arrow on Area, Temperature and Population mean?

An up arrow means the target country has a higher value than your guess; a down arrow means it has a lower value.

What do the coordinates tell me?

The coordinates cell shows the direction (e.g. SE) and distance in km from your guessed country to the target country.

Is a new puzzle available every day?

Yes! The Daily mode gives every player around the world the same country each day. You can also play an unlimited number of random games in Endless mode.

Is there a flag mode?

Yes! Flag mode shows you a country flag — type the country it belongs to. You have five lives, and each correct guess raises your score. Territory mode works the same way, but you identify the country from its territory outline instead.

What do the colors on the globe mean?

On the globe, a guessed country is painted a warmer red the closer it is to the mystery country, while a pale color means it is far away. The button in the corner of the map switches between the globe and the classic flat map at any time.

About this Game

Countryle is a daily geography puzzle. You have 6 guesses to find the mystery country. Each guess reveals how close you are across six dimensions.

After each guess you get color-coded feedback: hemisphere and continent show whether they match, while area, temperature and population show whether the target is higher or lower. Coordinates give you distance and direction. Every round is played on an interactive 3D globe: guessed countries are painted warmer the closer they are to the target, and you can switch back to the flat map at any time.

Every day brings a new mystery country and a series of hints — from hemisphere to flag colors. Each guess tells you how close you are and in which direction, and the challenge is piecing the clues together before the hints run out.
