About CASHFLOW 202
CASHFLOW 202 is an educational board game. It teaches financial literacy by simulating real-world investing scenarios — stocks, real estate, and business — in a fun, interactive format.
In this game, you start in the Rat Race with a profession, a salary, and a set of expenses and debts. Your goal is to build enough passive income to exceed your total expenses, allowing you to escape the Rat Race and achieve financial freedom. Along the way, you'll encounter deals, market events, unexpected expenses, and opportunities to grow your wealth.
Playing CASHFLOW 202 helps you develop essential financial skills: understanding cash flow, distinguishing assets from liabilities, evaluating investment opportunities, and managing risk. It's a practical way to learn the mindset of investors without real-world financial risk.
Design & rules
CASHFLOW is a teaching game, not a market simulation: every rule exists to make one idea tangible — assets put money in your pocket, liabilities take it out. That is why the sheet, not the dice, decides the winner: you escape the rat race once your passive income covers your expenses, and the Fast Track asks whether you can keep that up at scale.
A turn is short: roll, resolve the space you land on, then decide. Paydays pay your monthly cash flow (income minus expenses, every loan payment included); Opportunity spaces deal investments; a Market card quotes a price that every holder may accept; Doodads, children, charity, downsizing and taxes keep real life in the way. Charity buys three turns of double dice plus a tax deduction; being downsized costs two turns and a month of expenses.
Numbers you can check: the bank lends at 10% a year (monthly payment = balance × 10% ÷ 12) and only while your cash flow stays positive; a mortgage taken with a property is paid out of that property's cash flow, so the card shows the net amount. The 202 profile needs passive income of twice your expenses to escape, and a purchased dream plus $50,000 of cash flow to win; the classic 101 profile escapes at one times expenses. 202 also adds short selling, options and a wider market deck.

How do I escape the Rat Race?
To escape the Rat Race, your passive income (from stocks, real estate, and businesses) must exceed your total monthly expenses. Keep buying cash-flowing assets and paying down debts. Once your passive income surpasses your expenses, you graduate to the Fast Track with a starting cash bonus.
What is the Fast Track?
The Fast Track is the outer ring of the board where wealthy players invest in bigger opportunities. After escaping the Rat Race, you enter the Fast Track with a large cash injection based on your monthly cash flow. Here you can buy businesses, chase dreams, and aim for one of the victory conditions.
How do I win the game?
There are two ways to win on the Fast Track: buy your dream goal (land on a Dream space and purchase it), or grow your monthly cash flow to $50,000 or more. You can also win by buying out an opponent. Choose the strategy that best fits your financial position.
What's the difference between Small Deals and Big Deals?
Small Deals have lower costs and smaller returns — great for building early momentum. Big Deals require more cash but offer larger cash flow and bigger payoffs. Choose Small Deals when you're starting out, and switch to Big Deals once your cash reserves grow beyond $5,000–$8,000.
