How accurate is the sand timer?
While the tab is visible, the countdown is driven by your device's high-resolution clock through the browser's animation loop, so it neither drifts nor runs fast — pausing stops it exactly where it is. The readout is rounded to whole seconds.
Does it keep running when I switch tabs or minimize the window?
No — the animation loop that powers both the falling sand and the countdown suspends in hidden tabs, so the hourglass freezes and resumes when you come back. Treat it as an on-screen timer for meditation, focus or classroom moments; for timing that must survive tab switches, use the countdown timer.
What durations can I choose?
Four presets: 1, 3, 5 and 10 minutes — there is no custom duration input. You can pause and resume mid-flow, and Reset refills the top bulb and flips the hourglass with a little spin.
What happens when the sand runs out?
The upper bulb empties, a Time's up message appears, and a soft 432 Hz chime plays — unless you turn off the alarm toggle in the settings panel (which is hidden while in fullscreen). Everything is rendered and computed locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
