CDC Developmental Milestones | Learn the Signs. Act Early.
The official CDC 'Learn the Signs. Act Early.' program — 12 developmental milestone checklists from 2 months to 5 years across social-emotional, language, cognitive, and movement domains, plus free tools like the Milestone Tracker app.

Introduction
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines developmental milestones as things most children (75% or more) can do by a certain age. The 'Learn the Signs. Act Early.' program provides 12 free checklists covering 2 months through 5 years, organized across four developmental domains: social/emotional, language/communication, cognitive (learning, thinking, problem-solving), and movement/physical development. Each checklist includes practical tips and activities to support learning at home, open-ended questions to share with your child's doctor, and guidance on when to act early if you have concerns. The current online checklists were revised and released in February 2022. Note that these checklists are communication tools for families and professionals — not screening or diagnostic instruments. The program also offers free resources such as the Milestone Tracker mobile app, a digital online checklist, printable checklists, and the 'Milestones in Action' photo and video library.
