Guitart-Masip Learning Paradigm

A paradigm combining reinforcement learning and inhibitory control to measure action/inhibition-oriented reward learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have another question? Let us know.

What is the Guitart-Masip Learning Paradigm?

A cognitive paradigm combining reinforcement learning and inhibitory control. It measures how people learn to act or inhibit actions for rewards or to avoid punishments.

What are the four conditions in the learning phase?

Go-to-Win (press to gain), Go-to-Avoid (press to avoid loss), NoGo-to-Win (don't press to gain), NoGo-to-Avoid (don't press to avoid loss).

How does the stop-signal task work?

Respond to shapes with Z or M keys. On stop trials, a star appears around the shape after a delay (SSD). Try to inhibit your response. The SSD adapts based on your performance.

What is measured in this task?

Learning accuracy, total reward, reaction times, and the stop-signal delay (SSD) tracked by a staircase procedure. This page reports SSD only; SSRT must be estimated offline from the exported SSD and RT data. Preference choices in the forced-choice phase are also recorded.
