Are the preset times right for my eggs?
The three presets — 6 minutes for soft, 8 for medium, 10 for hard — assume large eggs lowered straight into already-boiling water. Actual results vary with egg size, starting temperature and altitude, so treat the times as reliable starting points and adjust to your own taste.
Can I set a custom time?
This timer offers only the three egg presets; there is no custom duration input. For an arbitrary length of time, use the site's countdown timer, which accepts any combination of hours, minutes and seconds.
Will the alarm ring on time if my screen is off or I switch apps?
The countdown is measured against the system clock, so it catches up the moment the page becomes visible again. While hidden, browsers throttle timers and the beep can arrive late — keep this page open and your screen on while your eggs boil.
What happens when time is up?
The display reaches 0:00, a check mark appears over the egg, and a short rising three-tone beep plays — unless you muted it with the speaker button. The main button then becomes a reset that refills the timer, or you can tap a preset to start again.
